Ensure each bottle is properly chilled to serving temperature. Light lagers (Corona, Presidente, Dos Equis, Hatuey, Stella Artois) are best at 38–45°F (3–7°C). Ales and IPAs (Brooklyn IPA) are best slightly warmer, about 45–50°F (7–10°C). Place beers in a refrigerator for at least 2–3 hours or in an ice bucket for 20–30 minutes prior to serving.

Chill beer

Use a bottle opener to remove caps from each bottle. For bottles with twist-off caps, twist by hand. Wipe the mouth of each bottle with a napkin if needed to remove dust or condensation.

Open beer

Decide whether to serve directly from the bottle/can or to pour into appropriate glassware. For Corona, Dos Equis and light lagers you may serve straight from the bottle with an optional lime wedge. For Brooklyn IPA and Negra Modelo, pouring into a clean glass (pint, tulip or snifter depending on style) enhances aroma and tasting notes: tilt the glass at 45° and pour gently down the side to preserve carbonation, then straighten and pour the last inch to create a 1–1.5 cm (0.5 inch) head.

Serve in bottle or pour

If serving Corona or Dos Equis straight from the bottle, insert a lime wedge into the bottle neck or squeeze a wedge into the beer before dropping it in. Do not add citrus to darker beers (Negra Modelo) unless desired by the guest, as it will change their flavor profile.

Garnish (optional)

Prepare ice bucket: fill the bucket or cooler with ice and water (if using) and place the beers you want to chill quickly in the ice for 20–30 minutes. Keep a few beers ready on ice for self-serve.

Chill glassware: place glassware in the refrigerator or freezer for 10–20 minutes prior to serving. Chilled glasses help maintain beer temperature, especially for lighter lagers.

Provide bottle opener near service area and napkins for condensation. Offer lime wedges on a small plate and suggest which beers pair well with lime (Corona, Dos Equis).
