Preparation
Smoked Oak Infusion
In a small heatproof container, add the hearth smoked American white oak chips. Light them gently until they begin to smoke, then cover the container to trap the smoke.
Infuse the Bourbon
Pour 2 oz of Woodford Reserve Bourbon into the container with the smoking oak chips. Seal it tightly and let it infuse for about 10 minutes.
Mixing
Combine Ingredients
In a mixing glass, add the infused Woodford Reserve Bourbon, 1 tsp of demerara sugar, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.
Stir
Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir the mixture for about 30 seconds until well chilled.
Serving
Prepare Glass
Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with a large ice cube.
Garnish
Express the oils from an orange peel strip over the drink and garnish with the marasca cherry.
