Cream Butter and Sugars
In a large mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).

Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then add the vanilla extract and mix to combine.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.

Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the mashed date mixture. Mix until just combined.

Bake the Cake
Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, stir in the brown sugar until dissolved. Gradually add the heavy cream while stirring continuously. Cook for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Once the cake is baked and cooled slightly, cut into slices. Serve warm, drizzled with the toffee sauce, alongside scoops of vanilla gelato and a sprinkle of spiced chocolate sauce. Garnish with fresh seasonal fruit.
