Preparation

Prepare the Ingredients
Gather all the ingredients you need for the paella. Clean and devein the shrimp, scrub the mussels, and slice the calamari into rings. Chop the onion, garlic, red bell pepper, and tomato.
Cooking
- 2
Sauté the Vegetables
In a large paella pan or wide skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and diced bell pepper, cooking for another 2-3 minutes.
- 3
Add Tomatoes and Spices
Stir in the diced tomato, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the tomatoes are softened.
- 4
Incorporate the Rice
Add the Bomba rice to the pan, stirring well to coat the grains with the vegetable mixture. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- 5
Pour in the Broth and Saffron
Pour the chicken broth into the pan and add the saffron. Stir to combine, then bring to a gentle boil.
- 6
Add Seafood
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and arrange the shrimp, mussels, and calamari on top of the rice. Do not stir after this point.
- 7
Simmer the Paella
Cover the pan with a lid or aluminum foil and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and has absorbed most of the liquid.
- 8
Add Peas and Finishing Touches
In the last 5 minutes of cooking, sprinkle the green peas over the top. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for another 5 minutes.
- 9
Serve
Serve the paella hot, garnished with lemon wedges. Enjoy your traditional Spanish dish!
