Meatball Ingredients

Marinara Sauce Ingredients

Method

Meatball Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix using your hands or a spoon until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter. Place the formed meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Bake Meatballs

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are browned and cooked through.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Sauté Onions and Garlic

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried basil, sugar, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Simmer Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Just before serving, stir in the chopped fresh basil.

Serving

  1. 7

    Combine and Serve

Once the meatballs are baked, add them to the simmering marinara sauce. Allow them to cook together for 5 minutes. Serve the meatballs with the marinara sauce over pasta or on their own.
