Method
Cocktail
- 1
Measure and combine
Add 1 oz gin, 1 oz Campari, and 1 oz rosé (sweet/medium) vermouth to a mixing glass or shaker.
- 2
Add bitters
Add 2 dashes grapefruit bitters (or orange bitters) to the mixing glass.
- 3
- 4
Prepare glass
Fill a rocks glass with fresh large ice (one large cube or several large cubes).
- 5
Strain
Using a strainer, pour the chilled cocktail from the mixing glass into the prepared rocks glass over the fresh ice.
Garnish
- 6
Express oils from the grapefruit peel: hold the peel skin-side down over the drink and give it a firm twist to release the oils, then rub the peel around the rim of the glass.
- 7
Drop the twisted peel into the drink. If using, lightly slap the rosemary sprig between your palms to release aromatics and rest it on the ice as a fragrant garnish.
Serving & Notes
- 8
Serve immediately. The Negroni Rosa should be a balanced, slightly bitter, floral-fruity variation of the classic Negroni. Adjust sweetness or bitterness by swapping vermouth style or altering the Campari to vermouth ratio in 1/4 oz increments to taste.
- 9
For a lighter, more effervescent variation, top with a splash (about 1 oz) of chilled soda water and serve in a highball with more ice.
