Spritz Assembly

Method

Prepare Glass

  1. 1

Select a large wine glass or a rocks glass. Fill the glass generously with ice to chill the glass and keep the drink cold.

Build the Spritz

  1. 2

    Add Cynar

Pour 2 oz Cynar over the ice. Cynar is a bittersweet artichoke-based Italian liqueur; pouring it first helps it settle among the ice.

  2. 3

    Add Prosecco

Slowly pour 3 oz chilled Prosecco (or other dry sparkling wine) into the glass. Pouring gently preserves bubbles and integrates the Cynar without aggressive stirring.

  3. 4

    Top with Soda

Add 1 oz club soda to give the spritz its refreshing effervescence. Adjust up to 1.5 oz if you prefer a lighter, bubblier drink.

  4. 5

    Gently Stir

Using a bar spoon or a gentle swirl, stir once or twice to marry the ingredients. Do not over-stir; you want to keep carbonation.

Garnish & Finish

  1. 6

Express an orange peel (twist it over the drink to release oils) and drop an orange wheel or twist into the glass. Optionally, slap a rosemary sprig between your palms to release aromatics and tuck it alongside the orange for an herbal note.

  2. 7

Serve immediately while cold and effervescent.
