Cocktail

Optional (for chilled glass)

Method

Cocktail

1

Measure and combine

Measure 1 oz Campari, 1 oz gin and 1 oz sweet vermouth. Pour all three ingredients into a mixing glass or shaker filled about halfway with ice.

2

Stir to chill and dilute

Using a long bar spoon, stir the mixture for 20–30 seconds (about 15–20 full rotations) until well chilled and slightly diluted — the glass should feel very cold and the liquid slightly viscous.

3

Prepare serving glass

If desired, chill an old-fashioned glass by filling it with ice and letting it sit while you stir. Discard the chilling ice before straining.

4

Strain and serve

Place a large ice cube (or sphere) into the chilled old-fashioned glass. Strain the stirred cocktail over the ice, filling the glass.

Garnish & Finish

5

Express the oil of an orange peel over the surface of the drink by holding the peel skin-side down above the glass and giving it a firm twist, then rub the peel around the rim and drop it into the drink as garnish.

6

Serve immediately. Optionally provide a stirrer so the drinker can re-mix before sipping as Campari and vermouth can settle.

Optional (Chilled glass)

7

If you chilled the glass with ice, empty and dry the glass before adding the serving ice cube and straining the cocktail.
