This is an American Style IPA from Founders Brewing Company in Michigan. It has an ABV of 4.7% and tastes of malt, grain, and hops.

Fit Turkey Wrap

A well-rounded, highly drinkable IPA. A bit of Caramel Malt barley provides the richness that mellows out the twang of hops.

In a large brew kettle, heat 5 gallons of filtered water to approximately 165°F (74°C). Add the Caramel Malt Barley and Pale Malt to the kettle and stir well.

Mashing

Allow the grains to steep for about 60 minutes, maintaining a temperature around 150°F to 155°F (65°C to 68°C).

Steeping

After steeping, remove the grains and sparge with additional hot water to collect a total of about 6.5 gallons of wort.

Sparging

Bring the collected wort to a rolling boil. Once boiling, add 1 oz of Amarillo hops and boil for 60 minutes.

Boil Wort

With 15 minutes left in the boil, add 1 oz of Cascade hops and 0.5 oz of Centennial hops.

Adding Hops

After the 60-minute boil, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it reaches about 70°F (21°C).

Cooling the Wort

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel and pitch (add) the American Ale yeast. Seal the vessel with an airlock.

Fermentation

Allow the beer to ferment at a temperature of 65°F to 70°F (18°C to 21°C) for about 1-2 weeks, until fermentation activity slows.

Fermentation Period

Once fermentation is complete, prepare bottles and caps. Boil water and add priming sugar to carbonate the beer.

Bottling Preparation

Transfer the beer into the bottles, leaving some headspace. Cap the bottles securely.

Bottling the Beer

Store the bottles at room temperature for 1-2 weeks for carbonation before chilling and enjoying.
