Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill glass (optional)

If you prefer a very cold drink, place a copper mule mug or highball glass in the freezer for 10–15 minutes before preparing the cocktail.

  2. 2

    Fill glass with ice

Remove the chilled mug (or use a regular glass). Fill it to the top with fresh ice cubes β€” about 1 cup (enough to keep the drink cold without fast dilution).

  3. 3

    Add vodka and lime

Pour 2 oz vodka and 0.5 oz (about 1/2 lime's worth) freshly squeezed lime juice directly over the ice.

  4. 4

    Top with ginger beer

Slowly pour 4 oz ginger beer into the glass. Pouring slowly preserves carbonation and allows a gentle mixing of ingredients.

  5. 5

    Stir gently

Use a bar spoon or stirrer to gently lift and mix the layers once or twice β€” just enough to combine the vodka, lime juice, and ginger beer without flattening the fizz.

  6. 6

    Garnish and serve

Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim and, if using, a sprig of fresh mint. Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer.
