Cocktail

Method

Prepare glass & herbs

1

Chill glass

Place a highball or copa glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice and water to chill while you prepare ingredients. Discard chilling ice/water before building the drink.

2

Bruise herbs

Take the 6 coriander leaves and 6 mint leaves. Gently clap them between your palms or lightly press them with the back of a bar spoon 2–3 times to release aromatics without shredding. Set aside.

3

Prepare lime peel

Using a vegetable peeler or sharp paring knife, cut one long strip of lime peel (about 2–3 cm wide and 8–10 cm long). If you prefer, trim any excess pith so the twist is mostly peel.

Build the cocktail

4

Fill glass with ice

Fill the chilled glass to the top with fresh, large ice cubes. Large cubes melt slower, keeping the drink balanced.

5

Add gin

Pour 60 ml (2 oz) Askur Yggdrasil Gin over the ice.

6

Add herbs

Drop the gently bruised coriander and mint leaves into the glass on top of the gin and ice. Use a bar spoon to stir gently 4–6 turns to incorporate the herb aromatics with the gin without over-agitating the tonic.

7

Top with tonic

Slowly pour 120 ml (about 4 oz) Fever-Tree Premium Indian Tonic Water down the side of the glass or over the back of a bar spoon to retain carbonation. Pour gently until the glass is nearly full.

8

Express lime oils

Hold the lime peel over the drink, skin-side down, and give it a firm twist to express the citrus oils onto the surface of the cocktail. Run the peel around the rim of the glass to add aroma, then drop the peel into the drink or lay it across the top.

9

Final stir & rest

Give the drink one gentle, short stir (2–3 turns) to marry the ingredients while preserving bubbles. Let the drink rest 10–15 seconds so aromatics bloom.

Garnish & serve

10

Add a small coriander sprig and a mint sprig on top as a visual and aromatic garnish. Optionally add an extra lime wheel on the rim. Serve immediately with a straw or without, encouraging the drinker to inhale the herb and citrus bouquet before sipping.
