Fries

Method

Preparing the Fries

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut each potato into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick, to create fries.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.

  3. 3

    Dry the Fries

After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel. Removing moisture is key to achieving crispy fries.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large deep pot or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil. Do not overcrowd the pot. Fry for 4-5 minutes until they are golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, season them with salt and black pepper to taste.

Making the Fry Sauce

  1. 7

    Mix the Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and paprika.

  2. 8

    Adjust Seasoning

Stir the mixture well and season with salt to taste. Adjust the ingredients if desired to match your flavor preference.

  3. 9

    Serve

Transfer the fry sauce to a serving bowl to accompany your crispy fries.
