Method
Making the Hot Fudge

Prepare the Fudge Mixture
In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar and cocoa powder. Stir in heavy cream and place over medium heat.

Add Butter
Once the mixture begins to simmer, add the stick of butter. Stir until melted and the mixture is smooth.

Finish the Fudge
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Set aside to cool slightly.
Making the Whipped Cream

Whip the Cream
In a mixing bowl, combine heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.

Beat Until Stiff Peaks Form
Using an electric mixer, beat the mixture on high speed until stiff peaks form.
Assembling the Sundae

Scoop the Ice Cream
Place two scoops of vanilla ice cream into a serving bowl or sundae glass.

Top with Hot Fudge
Generously pour the prepared hot fudge over the scoops of ice cream.

Add Whipped Cream
Spoon a generous dollop of whipped cream on top of the fudge.
