Cake Ingredients
For Greasing
Method
Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- 2
Grease the Ramekins
In a small bowl, mix the 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter and 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder. Brush this mixture inside four 6-ounce ramekins. This will prevent the cakes from sticking.
Making the Cake Batter
- 3
Melt Butter and Chocolate
In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine 1 cup of unsalted butter and 8 oz of bittersweet chocolate. Stir continuously until melted and smooth.
- 4
Mix in Sugar
Remove from heat and whisk in 1 cup of granulated sugar until well combined.
- 5
Add Eggs and Yolk
Add 2 large eggs and 2 large egg yolks to the mixture. Whisk until fully incorporated.
- 6
Add Flour, Vanilla, and Salt
Gently fold in 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until just combined.
Baking the Cakes
- 7
Fill Ramekins
Evenly distribute the cake batter into the prepared ramekins, filling them about ¾ full.
- 8
Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
