Measure and combine

Chill a rocks or margarita glass by filling with ice or placing in the freezer for a few minutes. In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz reposado tequila, 1 oz Grand Marnier, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz agave syrup.

Shake

Fill the shaker with ice, cap it, and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted on the outside.

Prepare glass

Dump the ice from the chilled glass. Lightly run a lime wedge around the rim, then dip the rim into the coarse salt to coat half or all of the rim, as preferred.

Strain and serve

Strain the cocktail from the shaker into the prepared glass over fresh large ice cubes (or serve neat in a chilled coupe if preferred).

Express an orange twist over the drink (if using) to release oils and rub the twist on the rim for extra aroma, then drop it into the drink. Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.
