  1. 1

    Prepare glass rims

Pour coarse salt onto a small plate. Run a lime wedge around the rim of 4 margarita or rocks glasses to moisten. Dip each glass rim into the salt, twisting to adhere. Set glasses aside right-side-up to let the salt set while you make the drink.

  2. 2

    Juice limes

Cut remaining limes in half and juice until you have 2 fl oz of fresh lime juice (approximately 2–3 medium limes). Strain seeds if desired.

  3. 3

    Combine ingredients in blender

Into a blender add 6 fl oz blanco tequila, 2 fl oz orange liqueur, 2 fl oz fresh lime juice, and 1 fl oz simple syrup (or agave). Add 4 cups of ice. For a thicker frozen margarita, use more ice; for a thinner one, use slightly less.

  4. 4

    Blend

Secure the lid and blend on high for 30–60 seconds, or until the mixture is smooth and slushy with no large ice chunks. If the mixture is too thin, add 1/2 cup more ice and pulse until desired consistency is reached. If too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons water or orange liqueur and pulse briefly.

  5. 5

    Taste and adjust

Taste carefully. Adjust sweetness or acidity as needed: add 1/4 fl oz simple syrup if too tart, or 1/4 fl oz lime juice if too sweet. Pulse to incorporate.

  6. 6

    Serve

Pour the blended margarita into the prepared, salted glasses. Garnish each glass with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer.
