Main Cocktail

Method

Main Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a champagne flute or coupe in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to ensure the final drink stays crisp and cold.

2

Build & chill base

In a mixing glass, add the gin (1.5 oz), dry vermouth (2 tsp), elderflower liqueur (1/2 tsp), dry curaçao (1/4 tsp) and 1 dash orange bitters. Add large ice and stir gently for 20–25 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.

3

Prepare flute

Discard any ice water from the chilled flute and strain the stirred mixture into the glass, leaving room for the sparkling wine. Use a fine strainer if you prefer a perfectly clear pour.

4

Top with sparkling wine

Slowly top the strained mixture with 3 oz of chilled blanc sparkling wine or Champagne. Pour gently down the side of the glass to preserve the bubbles and create a layered effervescence.

5

Balance and taste

Taste briefly. If you prefer slightly drier, add an extra 1/4 tsp dry vermouth or an additional 1/4 tsp elderflower for floral lift. Adjustments should be small to preserve balance.

Garnish & Serve

6

Express the oils of one lemon twist over the surface of the cocktail by holding the twist skin-side down over the glass and giving it a firm pinched snap. Rub the rim with the twist and drop it gently into the drink.

7

Optional: Float a small edible flower or a sprig of micro-herbs on top for an elegant visual accent. Serve immediately while sparkling and cold.

Cleanup & Notes

8

Rinse mixing glass and bar tools promptly to prevent sticky residue from the liqueurs. If you plan to batch, scale ingredients linearly and keep sparkling wine on ice until serving to preserve effervescence.
