Directions

1. Prepare Sushi Rice

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rice and water in a rice cooker and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions. Once cooked, let it sit for 10 minutes.

2. Season the Rice

In a small bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Gently fold this mixture into the warm sushi rice using a wooden spatula. Allow the rice to cool to room temperature.

3. Form Nigiri

Wet your hands with water to prevent sticking. Take a small amount of sushi rice (about 2 tablespoons) and mold it into an oval shape. Place a slice of salmon belly on top of the rice.

4. Garnish and Serve

Optionally, place a small dab of wasabi between the rice and salmon for added flavor. Serve with soy sauce and nori strips on the side for dipping.
