Bloody Mary Base
Nashville Hot Oil (for heat and garnish)
Loaded Garnishes (Nashville-style)
Ice & Tools
Method
Prepare Nashville Hot Oil
Infuse oil
In a small heatproof bowl or jar, combine 3 tbsp vegetable oil, 1.5 tbsp cayenne pepper, 1 tsp brown sugar, 1/2 tsp smoked paprika, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, and 1/4 tsp salt. Microwave in 15–20 second bursts or warm gently on the stovetop until the oil is hot but not smoking (about 30–45 seconds). Stir thoroughly until sugar dissolves and spices bloom. Set aside to cool slightly. This will be used both in the drink and to spice the fried chicken garnish.
Prepare Glass Rim and Garnishes
Mix 1 tbsp kosher salt, 1 tbsp cracked black pepper and 1 tsp brown sugar on a small plate. Run a lime wedge around the rim of a large rocks glass or mason jar, then dip the rim into the spice-sugar-salt mix to coat evenly.
If you have pre-cooked fried chicken tenders, brush or lightly spoon 1–2 tsp of the warm Nashville hot oil over the chicken to glaze it and intensify heat. Skewer the chicken with a pickle spear or place it on top of the glass as a topper. Cook bacon until crisp and set atop glass or alongside; grill or briefly torch cherry tomatoes and jalapeño slices if desired.
Place a celery stalk into the glass and prepare a cocktail skewer with the hot-glazed chicken, pickle spear, bacon strip, 2 cherry tomatoes, and jalapeño slices (optional).
Build the Bloody Mary
Combine base ingredients
Fill a cocktail shaker or mixing glass with ice. Add 2 oz vodka, 4 oz tomato juice, 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice, 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 tsp prepared horseradish, 1/4 tsp smoked paprika, 1/4 tsp celery salt, 4 grinds freshly ground black pepper, and 6 dashes hot sauce.
Cover and roll or shake very gently 6–8 seconds to chill and integrate — a gentle roll prevents too much dilution and keeps tomato texture intact.
Taste and adjust: if you want more heat, add 1–2 additional dashes of hot sauce or 1/4 tsp of the Nashville hot oil (stir well). For more acidity, add another 1/4 oz lemon juice; for more umami, add another 1/4 tsp Worcestershire.
Carefully drizzle about 1 tsp of the Nashville hot oil over the top of the drink so it forms a spicy red sheen on the surface. This gives an aromatic hit similar to Nashville hot chicken.
Garnish and Serve
Provide a straw and a small plate for the loaded garnishes. Serve immediately while oil is still slightly warm and aromatics are at their peak.
