Directions
Prepare the Grapefruits
Cut each grapefruit in half horizontally. Use a spoon to gently separate the flesh from the rind to make it easier to scoop out later.
Mix the Sugars
In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and brown sugar. Mix well to ensure even distribution.
Add Vanilla Flavor
Stir in the vanilla extract to the sugar mixture until evenly combined.
Sprinkle the Sugar Mixture
Evenly distribute the sugar mixture over the cut surface of each grapefruit half, making sure to cover all exposed areas.
Brulee the Grapefruits
Using a kitchen torch, carefully caramelize the sugar on the surface of each grapefruit half until it turns a golden brown color and bubbles slightly. If you don't have a torch, you can place them under a broiler for 3-5 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
Garnish and Serve
Let the bruleed grapefruits cool for a minute, then garnish with fresh mint leaves. Serve warm or at room temperature.
