Chicken Tenders & Fries (Kid's Favorite)
Prep chicken
Trim fat from chicken breasts and cut into 8 equal finger-size strips (about 3 inches long). Pat dry with a paper towel.
Breading set-up
Place flour in a shallow bowl and season with 1/4 tsp salt and a pinch of pepper. In a second bowl, whisk the egg with 2 tablespoons milk. In a third bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs with grated Parmesan, remaining 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp pepper.
Bread the chicken
One piece at a time: dredge a chicken strip in flour, shaking off excess; dip in egg wash, letting excess drip; press into panko mixture to coat evenly. Place breaded strips on a tray and repeat until all pieces are coated.
Cook chicken
Heat a heavy skillet over medium heat and add 1/4 cup vegetable oil. When oil is hot (test by dropping a pinch of breadcrumb — it should sizzle), add chicken strips in a single layer without crowding. Fry 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Transfer to a paper-towel lined plate to drain.
Fries
While chicken cooks, prepare 1 cup frozen crinkle-cut fries according to package directions (bake or air-fry) until crisp — typically 12–16 minutes at 400°F for oven-baked, turning once. If using oven, place fries on a baking sheet in a single layer and bake; if using air fryer, cook in a single layer for best crispness.
Serve
Arrange 3–4 chicken tenders with a portion of fries on a small plate. Serve with 2 tablespoons ketchup for dipping.
Mini Cheese Burger
Form a small patty from 0.25 lb ground beef: gently shape into a 3-inch round about 1/2 inch thick. Season both sides with 1/8 tsp salt and a pinch of pepper.
Cook patty in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat for 2–3 minutes per side for medium (longer if well done). When flipping, place the American cheese slice on top to melt during the last 30–60 seconds.
Grilled Cheese & Apple Slices
Cook 2–3 minutes per side until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted. Remove from skillet and cut into halves or triangles for a child-friendly portion.
Core and thinly slice 1/2 a medium apple (leave skin on for color). Fan slices on the plate next to the grilled cheese.
Sides & Beverage (included)
Assemble the kid's plate: choose one main (3–4 chicken tenders; or one mini cheeseburger; or one grilled cheese) with fries or apple slices, carrots and dressing, and the selected beverage. Ensure food has cooled to a safe serving temperature before giving to a child.
