Cocktail

Optional (for more cherry flavor)

Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare glass

Fill a Collins or highball glass with ice (about 1 cup) to chill while you assemble the drink.

2

Mix base

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine 2 oz vodka, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, and 0.5 oz maraschino cherry syrup or grenadine. If you prefer a stronger cherry flavor, add the optional 0.5 oz maraschino cherry juice.

3

Shake

Shake vigorously for 8–10 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.

4

Build the drink

Discard the ice from the chilled glass if you used it to chill. Fill the glass with fresh ice. Strain the shaken mixture into the glass over the ice.

5

Top with soda

Top the cocktail with about 3 oz club soda (or lemon-lime soda for a sweeter, fizzier version). Stir gently once or twice with a bar spoon to combine without flattening the carbonation.

6

Adjust sweetness and color

Taste and, if desired, add an extra 0.25–0.5 oz grenadine or simple syrup for more sweetness or a deeper cherry color, then stir gently.

Garnish & Serve

7

Garnish the drink with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and a maraschino cherry dropped into the glass (or skewered on a pick).

8

Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer. Optionally, provide a small plate with extra cherries for guests.
