Cocktail

Method

Prepare & mix

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or chilled rocks glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to cool the vessel.

2

Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz gin, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters.

3

Add ice

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup or enough to fully surround the liquid).

4

Shake

Shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and the outside is frosted. This chills and dilutes the drink to balance the citrus and sugar.

5

Strain

Discard the ice or water from the chilled glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or over a large ice cube in a rocks glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to catch any small ice shards and pulp.

Finish & serve

6

Garnish

Express the oils of a lime twist over the drink or float a lime wheel on the surface. Optionally, add a large clear ice cube if serving on the rocks.

7

Serve immediately. The Bennett is best enjoyed cold and freshly shaken; adjust simple syrup by ±0.25 oz if you prefer slightly sweeter or tarter.
