Coffee base

Method

Coffee base

1

Brew and chill

Brew 1 cup of strong coffee (or use cold-brew concentrate). Allow it to cool to room temperature, then chill in the refrigerator until cold. If using an extra espresso shot, pull it just before blending and allow it to cool briefly.

Chocolate & sweetener

2

In a small bowl, whisk the 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder with the 2 teaspoons granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup to form a smooth chocolate paste. This helps dissolve the cocoa and prevent graininess in the frappe.

Dairy & texture

3

Combine the chilled coffee, milk, heavy cream, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract in the blender. Add the prepared chocolate paste from the previous step and blend briefly on low to incorporate.

Ice & garnish

4

Add 2 cups of ice cubes to the blender. Blend on high for 25–45 seconds (or until smooth and thick) using a pulse at first to break the ice, then steady high speed. The goal is a thick, slushy texture that will fill a 16 oz cup without being watery.

5

Taste and adjust sweetness — if you prefer it sweeter, add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon sugar or more chocolate syrup and pulse to combine.

6

Drizzle chocolate syrup around the inside of a 16 oz serving glass. Pour the blended mocha frappe into the prepared glass, leaving some room at the top for whipped cream.

7

Top with about 1/2 cup whipped cream. Garnish with a drizzle of chocolate syrup and a light dusting of chocolate shavings or 1 teaspoon cocoa powder. Serve immediately with a straw.
