Red Bloom Cocktail

Method

Red Bloom Cocktail

1

Prep

Chill a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes. If using egg white, separate one egg and reserve the white. Prepare hibiscus syrup ahead (see note) and have fresh citrus juices measured.

2

Dry Shake (if using egg white)

In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz gin, 0.75 oz blood orange liqueur, 1 oz fresh blood orange juice, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.5 oz hibiscus syrup, 0.25 oz grenadine, and the egg white. Without ice, dry shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds to emulsify and create foam.

3

Wet Shake

Add a handful of ice (about 1 cup) to the shaker. Shake again vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels very cold. If not using egg white, combine ingredients with ice and shake for 12–15 seconds.

4

Strain & Serve

Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe glass using a fine mesh strainer (this removes any ice shards and solids and preserves the foam).

5

Garnish & Presentation

Float a thin blood orange wheel on the foam or rest an edible flower at the edge of the glass. If using dry ice for dramatic presentation, place a very small pellet in a separate heatproof container in the glass (ensure guests never ingest the dry ice) and inform guests about safety. Alternatively, add a few drops of grenadine into the center of the foam to create a bloom effect and then gently drag a toothpick through for a flower pattern.

6

Serve immediately while foam is fresh and the drink is chilled.
