Base oils & actives

Method

Infusion (optional, for extra rosemary aroma and actives)

1

Make a quick rosemary-infused oil

If using dried rosemary: place 1 tablespoon dried rosemary and 0.5 cup fractionated coconut oil in a small heatproof jar. Set the jar in a small pot of simmering water (double-boiler) for 45–60 minutes, keeping the water low so it doesn't boil vigorously. Maintain a gentle low heat so the oil warms but does not smoke. After 45–60 minutes, remove from heat, let cool to warm, strain through a fine mesh or cheesecloth into a clean bowl to remove herb solids, and return the infused oil to the measuring container. If not infusing, use the 0.5 cup fractionated coconut oil as-is.

Mixing the treatment

2

Combine base oils and actives

Measure 0.5 cup fractionated coconut oil (infused or plain) into a clean mixing bowl or small glass bottle. Add 2 tablespoons jojoba oil and 1 tablespoon castor oil. Stir or swirl to combine.

3

Add CBD and vitamin E

Add 1 tablespoon hemp-derived CBD oil to the oil blend. Add 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil. Mix thoroughly so the CBD and vitamin E disperse evenly in the carrier oils.

4

Add essential oils

Add 15 drops rosemary essential oil. If using cooling sensation, add 5 drops peppermint essential oil. Stir or gently shake the bottle to incorporate. Taste/smell test (do not ingest) and adjust rosemary by 2–3 drops if desired, keeping total essential oil dilution below about 2% (this recipe yields roughly 60–70 ml total; 20 drops ≈ 1 ml → stay under 1–1.5 ml essential oils total).

5

Bottle and label

Transfer the blend into a dark glass dropper bottle or pump bottle for easy application. Label with contents and date. Store in a cool, dark place for up to 6 months; refrigerate to extend shelf life.

Application & massage

6

Section hair

Part dry or slightly damp hair into sections to expose the scalp where you want to apply the treatment. Use clips to hold hair aside.

7

Apply oil to scalp

Using the dropper or your fingertips, apply about 1–2 teaspoons of the blend per section directly onto the scalp. For a full scalp treatment use about 1–2 tablespoons total. Focus on areas of dryness or tension.

8

Perform massage

Using your fingertips (pads of the fingers), massage the oil into the scalp with small circular motions for 5–10 minutes. Apply gentle to medium pressure, covering the entire scalp. Work from the hairline to the crown and down to the nape. If you prefer, use a scalp massager tool for 2–3 minutes to increase circulation.

9

Rest time

Leave the treatment on the scalp for at least 30 minutes. For deeper nourishment, cover hair with a shower cap and leave for 1–2 hours or overnight.

10

Rinse or shampoo

To remove, either shampoo hair normally (you may need 1–2 shampoos to fully remove oils) or rinse with warm water and a small amount of a gentle sulfate-free shampoo. Condition ends as usual.

11

Frequency & safety

Use this scalp treatment 1–2 times per week. Do a patch test 24 hours before first use: apply a small amount behind the ear and wait 24 hours to check for irritation. Do not use on broken or inflamed skin. If pregnant, breastfeeding, or on medications, consult a healthcare provider before using CBD products.
