Cocktail

1

Prepare glass

Fill a highball or Collins glass with crushed ice or ice cubes to chill while you build the drink. Reserve a little room at the top for the blue curaçao layer and any garnishes.

2

In a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice, combine the vodka (2 oz), pink lemonade (4 oz), fresh lemon juice (0.5 oz) and simple syrup (0.25 oz).

3

Shake vigorously for 8–12 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosty.

4

Discard the ice from the chilled serving glass if you filled it earlier, or keep it if you prefer a slushier presentation. Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass over fresh ice (or the remaining ice).

5

Gently pour the blue curaçao (0.5 oz) over the back of a spoon held just above the drink’s surface so it sinks slightly and creates a thin blue layer or swirl — this creates the 'shark' color contrast against the pink lemonade.

6

If using, slowly spoon the grenadine (0.25 oz) down the inside of the glass near the edge so it sinks toward the bottom and creates a 'blood trail' or red streak reminiscent of a shark attack. The grenadine will settle below the blue and pink layers for a dramatic look.

7

Garnish with a lemon wheel on the rim and a maraschino cherry dropped into the drink (or perched on a pick). Add the shark pick for effect if desired.

8

Serve immediately with a straw and warn your guests that it just ain't safe.

Optional Shark Effect

9

For a stronger visual 'shark attack', add the shark pick so it appears to be biting the lemon or floating in the drink. The contrast between pink lemonade, blue curaçao and a sinking red grenadine creates a layered, frenzied look.

10

If you want the blue to remain more distinct, pour curaçao very slowly and consider chilling it before pouring so it sinks more readily. For a more mixed look, stir gently once after adding curaçao.
