Churro Dough

For Frying

Method

Prepare the Churro Dough

  1. 1

    Heat the Mixture

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and add 1 cup of all-purpose flour. Stir vigorously until the mixture comes together and forms a ball.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Let the dough cool for a few minutes, then add in the 2 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

  4. 4

    Prepare Cinnamon Sugar

In a small bowl, mix together 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon. Set aside for coating the churros.

Fry the Churros

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a deep pot or frying pan, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Pipe the Dough

Transfer the churro dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Carefully pipe 4-6 inch long strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them off with scissors.

  3. 7

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown. Remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

  4. 8

    Coat with Cinnamon Sugar

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

Make the Chocolate Sauce

  1. 9

    Heat Cream

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

  2. 10

    Add Chocolate

Remove from heat and add 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Let sit for a minute, then stir until smooth.

  3. 11

    Finish with Vanilla

Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract for added flavor. Serve warm with churros.
