Chill glass
Place a rocks glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to chill the glass. Set aside.
Measure and combine
In a cocktail shaker, pour 2 oz Don Julio 1942, 0.25 oz agave nectar, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and add 2 dashes of orange bitters.
Add ice and shake
Add the ice for shaking to the shaker (about 4 oz / enough to chill). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted.
Prepare glass
Discard the chilling ice or remove the glass from the freezer. Add 1–2 large clear ice cubes to the chilled rocks glass.
Strain
Double-strain (or fine strain if available) the cocktail from the shaker into the rocks glass over the large ice cube(s) to remove small ice shards and any pulp.
Garnish and finish
Express the oils of a lime peel over the drink or place a lime wheel on the rim as garnish. Optionally run the lime wheel around the glass lip for extra aroma. Serve immediately.
