Method
Guacamole
Prepare avocados
Halve the avocados lengthwise, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl. Reserve one small piece of avocado if you want a chunkier texture to fold in later.
Mash and season
Using a fork or potato masher, roughly mash the avocado to your desired consistency — smooth with a few small chunks is typical. Immediately stir in the fresh lime juice to prevent browning and add brightness.
Adjust seasoning
Season with sea salt, black pepper, and the optional pinch of ground cumin. Taste and adjust: add more lime juice for acidity, more salt for flavor, or more jalapeño for heat. If using olive oil, drizzle it on top and fold gently for a glossy finish.
Rest and serve
Let the guacamole sit at room temperature for 5–10 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Transfer to a serving bowl, garnish with a few cilantro leaves if desired, and serve immediately with tortilla chips and lime wedges. If not serving right away, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface to minimize air contact and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
To serve (optional)
Arrange tortilla chips on a platter and serve with lime wedges alongside the guacamole. Encourage guests to squeeze additional lime over their portion if desired.
