Prepare banana
If your banana is not already frozen, slice 1 ripe banana into coins and freeze for at least 2 hours or use pre-frozen banana to ensure a thick, milkshake-like texture.
Combine ingredients
Add the frozen banana, 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1 tablespoon plain Greek yogurt, 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 20 g grass-fed beef protein powder, and 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed into a high-speed blender.
Add ice and blend
Add 4 ice cubes to the blender. Blend on high until smooth and creamy, about 30–60 seconds. If the shake is too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons (15–30 ml) more milk and pulse until desired consistency is reached. If too thin, add one more ice cube or a few frozen banana slices.
Taste and adjust
Taste the shake and adjust sweetness with an additional 1/2 teaspoon honey or maple syrup if desired. Blend briefly to incorporate.
Assembly & Toppings
Pour the prepared banana protein shake into a chilled tall glass, leaving about 1/2 inch at the top for toppings.
Top the shake with 2 tablespoons whipped cream (or coconut whipped cream) if using, then sprinkle 1 teaspoon dark chocolate shavings or mini chips and 1 teaspoon crushed roasted nuts over the cream.
Add 1 maraschino or fresh cherry on top and finish with a light drizzle (1 teaspoon) of cacao nibs or sugar-free chocolate syrup if desired.
Serve immediately with a straw and a long spoon to enjoy the banana-split-inspired layers.
