Method
Cocktail
- 1
Prepare shaker
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice to properly chill and dilute the drink while shaking.
- 2
Measure & combine
Add 2 oz Kraken Dark Rum, 1.5 oz cream of coconut, 2 oz fresh pineapple juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 3 dashes tiki bitters into the shaker. If you prefer a slightly nuttier or rounder profile, add 0.25 oz orgeat. If your pineapple is quite tart, add 0.25 oz simple syrup to taste.
- 3
Shake
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and you feel slight frost on the exterior. This integrates the thicker cream of coconut with the juices for a velvety texture.
- 4
Prepare glass
Fill a double old-fashioned glass or tiki mug with crushed ice (about 1 cup) and set aside.
- 5
Strain
Using a Hawthorne strainer (or both the shaker top and a fine strainer if available), double-strain the cocktail over the crushed ice to remove any large ice shards and foam for a smoother finish.
Garnish & Serve
- 6
Top: Gently mound a little more crushed ice if desired so the garnish sits nicely.
- 7
Garnish: Thread a Luxardo or brandied cherry onto a pick and rest it on a fresh pineapple wedge; place both on the rim. Add a small mint sprig tucked to one side for aroma.
- 8
Finish: Lightly grate a touch of fresh nutmeg over the top (optional) and add 1–2 extra dashes of tiki bitters on the foam/ice surface for aromatic lift.
- 9
Serve: Present with a short straw and small cocktail spoon. Encourage the drinker to give the drink a gentle stir to meld the garnish flavors before sipping.
