Cocktail

1

Chill and prepare

If using a copper mug, place it in the freezer for a few minutes or fill with ice to chill while preparing ingredients. This ensures a crisp, cold drink.

2

Build the cocktail

Discard the chilling ice if used. Add 1 cup of cubed ice to the chilled mug or glass. Pour in 2 oz vodka, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup directly over the ice.

3

Top and lift

Gently pour 4 oz chilled ginger beer over the other ingredients. Stir once or twice with a bar spoon to combine — avoid vigorous stirring to retain ginger beer carbonation.

Garnish

4

Slice a lime into a thin wheel or into three thin overlapping slices and fan them. Run the lime rim around the mug's edge (optional) and place the fanned lime on the rim or float it on top of the drink. Add a mint sprig beside the lime for aroma if desired.

Serve

5

Serve immediately while very cold. Provide a straw or short stirring spoon so the guest can re-stir if needed as ice dilutes.
