Method
Prepare Glass
Chill and rim
Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes to chill. Pour the granulated sugar onto a small plate. Rub the lemon wedge around the rim of the chilled glass to moisten, then dip the rim into the sugar so it adheres evenly. Set the glass aside.
Mix Cocktail
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice about two-thirds full.
Add 2 oz vodka, 1 oz ginger liqueur, 1 oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup to the shaker.
Optional: add 1 dash of bitters if you want extra depth or 0.5 tsp minced candied ginger for more ginger intensity.
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and slightly frosted. This both chills and slightly dilutes the drink for balance.
Double-strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into the prepared sugared martini or coupe glass to remove ice shards (and candied ginger if used).
Garnish & Serve
Float a thin slice of fresh ginger on top or thread it on the rim, and optionally drop a thin lemon twist into the drink for aromatics.
Serve immediately. Yields a zippy, balanced Ginger Lemon Drop Martini — adjust simple syrup by 0.25 oz increments if you prefer sweeter or tarter.
