Cocktail

1

Prep glass

Chill a highball or Collins glass by filling it with ice and cold water while you prepare the drink, or place it briefly in the freezer. When ready, discard the chilling ice/water.

2

Mix

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice (about 1 cup). Pour in 2 oz light rum, 1 oz banana liqueur, 2 oz orange juice, and 2 oz pineapple juice.

3

Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels cold and slightly frosted. This chills and lightly dilutes the drink for balance.

4

Strain and layer grenadine

Discard the ice from the chilled glass and fill the glass with fresh ice. Strain the shaken mixture into the glass over the fresh ice. Slowly pour 0.25 oz (about 1/2 tablespoon) grenadine down the inside edge of the glass so it sinks and creates a pink-orange gradient at the bottom.

5

Garnish and serve

Garnish with an orange wheel or pineapple wedge on the rim and a maraschino cherry if desired. Serve with a straw and enjoy immediately.
