Method

Prepare serving dish

1

Place the small dessert bowl or plate in the freezer for 5–10 minutes to chill before serving. This helps keep the single scoop from melting quickly.

Scoop ice cream

2

Form the scoop

Remove the ice cream from the freezer and let it sit 1–2 minutes if very hard. Dip the ice cream scoop into warm water, shake off excess, then press into the ice cream and rotate to form one smooth scoop (about 1/2 cup).

3

Place the single scoop centered on the chilled bowl or plate.

Add toppings (optional)

4

If using hot fudge or caramel, warm the sauce briefly (10–15 seconds) in the microwave if chilled. Drizzle 1–2 tablespoons of the chosen sauce over the scoop.

5

Sprinkle chopped nuts (about 1 tablespoon) evenly over the sauce and ice cream.

6

Add a dollop of whipped cream (about 2 tablespoons) to one side of the scoop.

7

Garnish with sprinkles (about 1 teaspoon) and top with one maraschino cherry.

Serve

8

Serve immediately with a small spoon. If not serving at once, return the scoop to the freezer for up to 5 minutes to firm back up, then finish toppings and serve.
