Canned soda (store-bought)

Optional serving additions

Method

Canned soda (store-bought)

1

Select cans

Choose six chilled soda cans from your refrigerator or cooler. Select whichever flavor(s) you prefer (cola, lemon-lime, orange, etc.). Ensure cans are intact with no punctures or severe dents.

2

Chill if needed

If the cans are not cold, place them in a refrigerator for at least 30–60 minutes or submerge in an ice water bath for 10–15 minutes until chilled to the desired temperature.

3

Open cans

Place each can on a stable surface. Hold the can firmly and lift the tab to puncture the top. Pull the tab back fully to open the beverage. Listen for the fizz of carbonation and avoid tilting the can sharply to minimize spillage or foaming.

Optional serving additions

4

Prepare ice and cups

If using ice and cups, distribute the ice evenly among the cups (about 1/3 to 1/2 cup ice per cup depending on size). Place cups on a tray or table for serving.

5

Pour soda

Hold a chilled can at a slight angle over the cup and slowly pour the soda to reduce foaming. Aim to leave a small head (about 1–1.5 cm) of foam at the top to preserve carbonation. Repeat for each can.

6

Garnish and serve

If desired, squeeze a lemon or lime wedge into each cup and drop the wedge in as garnish. Serve immediately to enjoy optimal carbonation and flavor.
