Cocktail

1

Prepare glass

Chill a coupe or martini glass by placing it in the freezer for a few minutes or filling it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail.

2

Rinse the glass with absinthe

Pour approximately 1/4 teaspoon absinthe into the chilled glass, swirl it around to coat the inside, then discard the excess (or pour out into sink). This leaves a subtle anise aroma without overpowering the drink.

3

Combine ingredients

Add the gin, triple sec, Lillet Blanc (or dry aperitif), and fresh lemon juice to a mixing glass or cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes.

4

Shake

Shake vigorously for about 12–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted on the outside. This dilutes and chills the ingredients properly.

5

Strain

Double-strain (use a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer if available) the cocktail into the absinthe-rinsed chilled coupe or martini glass to remove ice shards and achieve a silky texture.

6

Garnish and serve

Express a lemon twist over the drink to release the oils, rub the twist around the rim of the glass if desired, and drop it in as a garnish. Serve immediately.
