Cocktail
Garnish & Finish
Optional puree (if making fresh)
Method
Prep
Chill glass
Place a rocks or coupe glass in the freezer or fill with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.
If making fresh blackberry puree: combine 1/2 cup fresh blackberries and 1 tsp simple syrup in a blender or food processor. Purée until smooth, then strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds. Measure 1 oz of the resulting puree for the recipe.
Rim
Build & Shake
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice (about 3/4 full). Add 2 oz Lunazul tequila, 1 oz Triple Sec, 1 oz blackberry puree, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup (or agave) to the shaker.
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until well chilled and the exterior of the shaker feels cold.
Strain & Serve
Discard ice/water from the chilled glass. Double-strain the shaken cocktail into the prepared glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove ice shards and any blackberry seeds or pulp.
Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim and 2 fresh blackberries skewered on a cocktail pick or floated in the drink. Serve immediately.
