Rinse the strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries under cold water. Remove the stems from the strawberries and slice them into quarters.

In a medium saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture begins to bubble and the fruit is soft, about 10-15 minutes.

Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the compote to cool to room temperature. Once cooled, transfer it to a bowl and refrigerate until ready to use.
