Chill the Glass

Place a martini glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while preparing the cocktail.

Combine Ingredients

In a mixing glass, add the gin or vodka and dry vermouth.

Add Ice

Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes to the top.

Stir Thoroughly

Stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds to chill and dilute the drink.

Strain into Glass

Remove the martini glass from the freezer or discard the ice water. Strain the cocktail mixture into the chilled glass.

Garnish

Add an olive or a twist of lemon peel to the drink as a garnish.
