Method

Smoothie Base

  1. 1

    Prepare fruit and greens

Peel and halve the banana if not already done. Rinse and pat the spinach dry. Measure out the frozen berries and oats so they're ready to add.

  2. 2

    Blend base ingredients

Add Greek yogurt, almond milk, banana, frozen mixed berries, spinach, rolled oats, and chia seeds to a blender. Blend on low then increase to high until smooth and uniform, about 30–45 seconds depending on blender power.

  3. 3

Check consistency and sweetness. If too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons (15–30 ml) more almond milk and pulse to combine. If you prefer sweeter, add up to 1 additional teaspoon of honey or maple syrup and blend briefly.

Protein & Boosters

  1. 4

Add the protein powder and ground flaxseed to the blended base. Add lemon zest. Blend on medium-high for 10–15 seconds until the powder is fully incorporated and the mixture is smooth. Taste and adjust sweetness or liquid as needed.

  2. 5

Stop blender and scrape down the sides with a spatula if any powder or greens are clinging, then blend another 5–10 seconds.

Optional Garnish

  1. 6

Pour the smoothie into a 12–14 oz glass. Sprinkle the extra 0.5 tsp chia seeds on top and garnish with a fresh mint leaf if desired. Serve immediately.
