Base Smoothie

Optional Garnish

Method

Base Smoothie

  1. 1

    Prepare dairy and fruit

Measure 1 cup unsweetened almond milk and pour into the blender. Add 1/2 cup plain low-fat Greek yogurt for creaminess and protein. Add 1/2 cup frozen banana to chill and thicken the smoothie.

  2. 2

    Add greens and fiber

Add 1/2 cup frozen spinach (packed lightly) for color and nutrients. Add 2 tablespoons rolled oats and 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed for fullness and texture.

Protein & Flavor

  1. 3

    Add protein powder and sweeteners

Add 1 scoop whey protein powder (unflavored or vanilla) to reach the 10 g protein target (adjust powder if needed based on brand). Add 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup, 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract to brighten the flavor.

  2. 4

    Finish with ice and blend

Add 4 ice cubes to chill further. Secure the blender lid and blend on medium-high for 45–60 seconds, pausing to scrape down the sides once, until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. If too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons water or almond milk and pulse again; if too thin, add another small piece of frozen banana or one more ice cube.

Serve

  1. 5

Pour the smoothie into a 12–14 oz glass. Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon chia seeds on top and garnish with a thin banana slice if using. Serve immediately.

  2. 6

Storage: best consumed immediately. If necessary, keep in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours and re-blend or shake before drinking.
