Method
Prepare Rim & Glass
Prepare salt rim
Combine sea salt and smoked paprika on a small plate and mix until even. Wipe the lip of your glass with a lime wedge to moisten. Dip the rim lightly into the salt mixture to coat the edge. Set the glass aside.
If using a rocks glass, fill with a large ice cube. If using a coupe, set aside chilled.
Make Cocktail
Add 2 oz reposado tequila, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.75 oz Cointreau, 0.75 oz fresh blood orange juice, 0.5 oz agave syrup and 2 dashes orange bitters into a cocktail shaker.
Fill the shaker with ice (enough to nearly fill). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is very cold and slightly frosted. This chills and dilutes the drink to balance flavors.
Optional: top with a 0.5 oz splash of chilled soda water for a lighter finish or 0.5 oz Cava for effervescence — add gently to maintain carbonation.
Garnish & Serve
Float a thin blood orange twist on top of the drink for aroma, and add a lime wheel or blood orange wheel to the rim or inside the glass as a visual accent.
Serve immediately while cold. Suggest pairing with citrus-forward small plates or light seafood.
