1

Prepare glass

Chill a highball or Collins glass by filling it with ice and setting aside, or place it briefly in the freezer while you prepare the cocktail.

2

Muddle mint and syrup

In a cocktail shaker or mixing glass, place the fresh mint leaves and the simple syrup. Gently muddle the mint 4–6 times—press just enough to release the oils and aroma without shredding the leaves, which can create bitterness.

3

Add remaining ingredients

Add the Grey Goose vodka, freshly squeezed lime juice, and a scoop of ice to the shaker with the muddled mint and syrup.

4

Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for about 10–12 seconds, until the outside of the shaker feels nicely chilled (or about 15 seconds if using a Boston shaker). This chills and lightly dilutes the drink.

5

Prepare glass and strain

Discard the ice from the chilled glass if you pre-chilled it. Fill the glass with fresh ice (crushed or cubed, your preference). Double-strain the cocktail into the glass using a fine strainer in addition to the shaker strainer to catch mint bits, ensuring a smooth drink.

6

Top and garnish

If desired, top gently with about 1 oz club soda for a lighter, slightly effervescent finish (optional). Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and a fresh mint sprig tucked into the drink; clap the mint sprig between your hands once before garnishing to release its aroma.

7

Serve

Serve immediately with a straw or stirring stick. Advise the drinker to give it a gentle stir if soda was added to incorporate flavors.
