Remove the bottle from full refrigeration (if stored cold) and allow to sit upright at 16–18°C (60–65°F) for 20–30 minutes. If stored at cellar temperature (~16°C), proceed directly to opening.

Chill briefly

Use a waiter’s corkscrew to remove the cork gently to avoid agitation. Inspect the cork for cleanliness and be aware of any off aromas that could indicate a fault.

Open the bottle

Pour the wine slowly into a decanter in a single motion, leaving the last 1–2 cm in the bottle to avoid any sediment. Decant for 30–60 minutes to allow the wine’s aromas and flavors (Sangiovese freshness, Cabernet structure, Merlot softness) to integrate and to let any youthful reduction dissipate.

Decant (optional but recommended)

Use large-bowled red wine glasses (Bordeaux style). Pour 120–150 ml per glass (about 1/3 full) to permit swirling and aroma concentration. Hold the glass by the stem to avoid warming the wine.

Glassware & pour

Serve at 16–18°C (60–65°F). If the wine is too warm, place glasses in a refrigerator for 10–15 minutes; if too cold, hold the glass in your hand or let it sit for 5–10 minutes.

Tasting & serving temperature

Provide small amounts of filtered water and plain bread or crackers to cleanse the palate between tastes. This wine pairs well with grilled red meats, rich pasta dishes with tomato-based sauces, aged Pecorino or Parmigiano-Reggiano, and charcuterie—serve 30–50 g per person as an accompaniment.

If you do not finish the bottle, re-cork or use a vacuum wine preserver and refrigerate. Consume within 3–5 days for best quality. Allow the refrigerated bottle to warm to serving temperature for 20–30 minutes before re-serving.
