Menta Branca Cocktail

Method

Menta Branca Cocktail

1

Prep glass

Chill a rocks glass or highball glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes, or fill it with ice water while you assemble ingredients. If using crushed ice, prepare it now.

2

Muddle mint

Place 4 fresh mint leaves in a cocktail shaker or mixing glass. Add the lime juice and simple syrup (if using). Gently muddle the mint 3–4 times to release oils — avoid pulverizing to prevent bitterness.

3

Build the drink

Add the Branca Menta liqueur and the rum or vodka (if using) to the shaker. Fill the shaker halfway with crushed ice (or add regular ice if you don't have crushed).

4

Shake or stir

If using crushed ice and you want a slushy, vigorous chill: shake briefly (6–8 seconds). For a cleaner, slightly less-diluted profile with cubed ice: stir 20–30 seconds until well chilled. Either method will integrate the mint and chill the liqueur.

5

Prepare glass and strain

Discard any ice water from the chilled glass. Fill the glass about 3/4 full with crushed ice (or fresh ice). Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass to keep mint bits out; if you prefer more texture, single-strain or pour with the muddled mint.

6

Top and garnish

If desired, top with 1 oz club soda to lighten and add effervescence. Slap the remaining 2 mint leaves between your palms to release aroma and tuck them into the drink. Add a lime wheel or wedge on the rim.

7

Serve

Serve immediately with a short straw or stirrer. Optionally provide a small muddler so guests can gently crush the mint further if they like a stronger herbal note.
