Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare glass

Chill a coupe or martini glass by placing it in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or filling briefly with ice water. If using ice water, empty and dry the glass just before serving.

2

Measure and combine

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz vodka, 0.75 oz freshly squeezed lime juice, 1 oz cranberry juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, and 0.25 oz orange liqueur. If you want a silky texture, add 0.5 egg white (about half a large egg white).

3

Dry shake (if using egg white)

If you included the egg white, seal the shaker and shake vigorously without ice for 10–15 seconds to emulsify and create foam.

4

Shake with ice

Add 6 ice cubes to the shaker. Seal and shake hard for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is very cold to the touch and the exterior is frosty. This chills, dilutes, and integrates the ingredients.

5

Strain

Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer (or a julep strainer) to remove ice shards and any egg white solids for a silky, clean pour. If you prefer it on the rocks, fill a rocks glass with 4 ice cubes and strain over the ice instead.

6

Garnish and serve

Garnish with a lime wheel or twist on the rim and optionally drop two cranberries or a small pinch of lime zest on top of the foam. Serve immediately.
