Ingredients

Cocktail

Garnish & Glass

Preparation

Prep & Glass

1. Salt the rim

Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass. Pour the coarse salt onto a small plate and press the rim lightly into the salt to coat. Set the glass aside.

2. If you prefer no salt, skip the rubbing and salting step and simply chill the glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes.

Mixing

3. Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz 3 Amigos blanco tequila, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.25 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.5 oz agave syrup, and 0.5 oz orange liqueur (if using).

4. Add ice

Fill the shaker with about 1 cup of ice, enough to chill and properly dilute the cocktail.

5. Shake

Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker becomes very cold and you hear the ice slush inside.

6. Strain

Double-strain the mixture (optional fine mesh) into the prepared salt-rimmed glass over fresh ice for a rocks-style margarita or without ice into a chilled coupe for a neat presentation.

Finish & Serve

7. Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and, if desired, add a lemon twist for extra citrus aroma. Serve immediately.
