Method
Smoothie Base
Add the spirulina powder and fresh lemon juice directly on top of the fruit. The lemon keeps color bright and balances spirulina's earthiness.
Liquids & Texture
If you want a thicker, colder smoothie and didn't use frozen banana, add the ice cubes listed in Optional Enhancers.
Secure the blender lid and blend on high for 45–60 seconds, or until the mixture is completely smooth and homogenous. Stop and scrape down the sides with a spatula if needed, then blend another 10–15 seconds.
Optional Enhancers & Final Seasoning
Taste the smoothie. If you prefer it sweeter, add up to 1 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup and blend briefly to incorporate.
If adding ground flaxseed or chia, sprinkle it in and pulse-blend 5–10 seconds to combine (chia will slightly thicken after a few minutes).
Adjust consistency as desired: add up to 1/4 cup more water or almond milk for a thinner pour, or a few more frozen banana pieces for thickness.
